Start with the Door Function

For a non-locking passage door, pair compatible internal door handles with a tubular mortice latch. Bathroom and WC doors use a bathroom lock or tubular deadbolt with a turn-and-release fitting, while doors that need a key use a sash lock and the correct keyhole escutcheons. Handles on Rose or Backplate

Handles on a rose use a compact round or square fitting behind the lever. The latch, bathroom turn or keyhole escutcheon sits separately below it, giving you flexibility over the final layout. Handles on backplate use a longer plate and are available in plain, keyhole and bathroom formats. They can suit panelled doors and renovation projects where a larger plate helps cover previous fitting marks.

Match Latches, Locks and Accessories

A tubular latch keeps a passage door closed but does not lock it. Bathroom mortice locks and deadbolts provide privacy when paired with a compatible thumb turn, while sash locks combine a latch and key-operated bolt in one case. Escutcheons finish keyhole and Euro-cylinder openings; they do not replace the lock itself.

Keep the Finish Consistent

Matt black creates a strong outline on pale or timber doors, antique brass adds warmth, and satin nickel gives a softer low-sheen finish. Polished and satin chrome provide brighter alternatives. Matching the visible handle, hinges, thumb turn and escutcheons helps the door read as one considered set, even when the hidden latch or lock specification changes from room to room.
