An escutcheon is the small plate fitted around a keyhole or cylinder opening. It gives the door a tidy finished edge and helps the lock detail coordinate with the handle. It is especially useful with handles on a rose, where the keyhole sits separately below the lever.

Choose the Correct Opening

Standard keyhole escutcheons are shaped for traditional key-operated locks. Euro cylinder covers have a different profile designed around a Euro cylinder opening. These are not interchangeable, so identify the lock type before choosing the escutcheon.

Round or Square?

A round escutcheon pairs naturally with round rose door handles, while a square design repeats the sharper outline of square rose door handles. Matching shapes creates a calm, intentional arrangement on the door, although a contrasting shape can work where other fittings use mixed geometry.

Match the Finish

Options include matt black, satin nickel, antique brass, polished chrome, duo finish and matt bronze. Choose the closest match to the handle and other visible door furniture. Small differences are easier to notice when the escutcheon sits directly below the lever, so compare product photographs and finish names carefully.

Covered and Open Styles

Before Ordering

Confirm whether the door has a standard keyhole or Euro cylinder, then check the escutcheon’s outside shape, opening and dimensions.
