How a Sash Lock Set Works

The sash lock carries two mechanisms: a sprung latch worked by the levers for everyday open-and-close, and a deadbolt thrown by the key when you want the room secured. Day to day it behaves like any door; turn the key and it's locked. Keys are supplied with every set.

Fitting

UK sash locks follow standard case sizes, so replacing an existing sash lock is usually a drop-in: same mortice, same spindle height, levers covering any old marks. First-time fits need a mortice cut — the most involved job in internal door hardware, worth a joiner if chiselling lock pockets isn't your idea of a Saturday. Backplate versions with the keyhole in the plate are included in several ranges via door handles on backplate.
